Teachers union getting crushed taking major paycuts these days and cops in Detroit forced to work 12 hour shifts and take pay cuts and benefit cuts without a fight.
Workers don't have much leverage these days since most of our country is now owned by china.
So whats the deal with the cuts out there with the po-po and firemen? I think that would be the last cuts you would make.

Yep I also seen where it was said Bettmen would recieve the power to award a struggling franchise an extra first round pick. I am so against this move. If your team is so bad after having 4 first rounders fire your coach and the GM for not being able to use the First round asset in a way that better your club. I can see taking the first two picks but a trade of a first pick should bring a return of at least 2 to 3 NHL quality players. Am I speaking of the Oilers?

Yes It really makes me wonder what the real issue is in Edmonton. I would have to center it on the coaching actually, the failure to develope. Or could it be more a gel deal? Thes kids have all the talent but lack the ability of team cohesiveness. Also a TRUE leader seems to be missing on this team.

Personally I think they are a FlusterCuck on all those fronts and a few more, also have to question weather or not some of their player moves benchings ect arent done on purpose to keep getting those good picks. I would love to have some of their players on the Wings

I dont think Hockey is going to happen this year. I have read many reports that the two sides are miles apart. Also the owners wont really notice it untill the first of the year, this is not very good news.

Moving NHL to other sports could be CBS prediction of what may happen (here in the states) to hockey after the lock out. I think its a bad bad move by both sides. I do know its more the owners calling for the lockout and the players actually want to play. I am not holding my breath.

IMO the Raiders might have a chance over there. Manning is a hit away form being put on the retirement list. Rivers needs anger management classes and Mathewes is hurt. The Chiefs will have a tough D but not sure on the O side. The Raiders are kinda young aside from a few players but I like what I see. Pryor looks to be something if they can develope him this season he will be explosive.

The OHL commish is trying hard to ruin this league for him. Some adult beer league guy dies hitting his head on the ice so he he makes a rule change for the OHL that states if you remove your helmet during a fight you are automatically suspended, ugh. Seen a ton of players break their hands and fingers since that stupid rule change punching visors and helmets.

Former NHL Boughner and Spitfires GM Warren Rychel thought they were above the law and violated recruitment rules. Now the team is fined 250,000 grrrr and they will lose a  first round draft pick in 2013, a second round draft pick in 2015 a first round draft pick in 2016 and a second round draft pick in 2017. Frolik is the only one over there right now, czech league.   

Other Hawks have talked about it but haven't signed yet.     We're not sure Frolik is coming back, Rocky may offer some under-the-table incentive for him to stay.    He's had a bad couple of seasons.

On the CBA front, I'm getting a little more concerned.     NHL agent Walsh and a couple others starting to chirp and say things like "collusion", which we already believe is true to an extent.   I was optimistic that the agents' silence would make things go a little quicker.    Rumor is that the league and players are using some agents as intermediaries too....why?    I wish I knew where the owners really stood, whole new group than the last time around, tough to say if they would flinch or not.      I think the league is still set on expansion to 32 teams, so they have to get a favorable CBA to entice new owners.    I wish they would drop the idea.   

Players sound like morons now and owners probably cutting charitable donations to offset losses.   At least the Bears are 2-1 and almost interesting.   Cubs looking at triple digit losses.    AL Central is a fun one to watch right now.

I read where they have lost over 100 million on the preseason and the regular season loss to December could top 175 million. The owners must be doing well to be able to lose that kind of cash

With you. Read a piece on mid 70s age Dick Duff the former Leafs & Habs legend and he said in interview the league is to thinned out with to many teams right now. He misses the days teams of great depth like Oilers and Islanders used to play each other. The six time SC winner makes sense. Don't see how in this economy the league can expand with so many teams struggling to reach cap floor and draw fans.
