This is a cover of the Garcia/Hunter song that showed up on the Grateful Dead tribute CD Deadicated.  It was first released on Garcia's first solo album, Garcia  and was played infrequently by The Grateful Dead in concert.  The Norah Jones song Come Away With Me owes quite a bit to this song in my opinion.

Just wanna make a quick note about how excited I am that the whole Dodger ownership situation is settled-MAgic Johnson will make a great face for this franchise. Go Blue!!!

Yeah, Giants fans are really happy about this development, too, LD, LOL!!!  Wow, the Murdoch/McCourt era has certainly been a great one...for Giants fans!  Sorry to see it ending, although I'm betting the next few years restores the Giants/Bums rivalry to it's rightful place as the best rivalry in baseball, if not all of sports.  KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR PITCHERS!

RIP Earl Scruggs, passed away today, well into his 80s.  I was really lucky one night to shake Earl's hand when he and his sons Gary and Randy played in Moscow Idaho in the Earl Scruggs Revue, in 1977 or maybe 78.  Earl pulled his pocket comb out of the back pocket of his overalls and used it as a slide for his banjo, never missed a beat.  He was an original with Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt in the foggy mountain boys, a real pioneer.  Many people know him best for his work on The Ballad Of Jed Clampett, the theme song from the popular 60s tv show The Beverly Hillbillies, and Earl made at least one appearence on that show as a cousin to Jed or Granny, I forget.  Best Banjo Player Ever Was.  Period.
