The river flows, it flows to the sea
Wherever that rivers flows, that's where I want to be
Ballad Of Easy Rider  --  The Byrds   - Bob Dylan gave those lines to Roger McGuinn without wanting any credit

You reach your hand to hold me
But I can't be your guide
Easy, I love you
As I watch you glide
Falling through wet forests

Breaking Up Is Hard to Do - Neil Sedaka.

This next one is one of my favorites from this legendary band. The song's softer tone was a contrast to their usual fare, and it was recorded toward the end of their career.

If you've been contemplating what you've been doin' wrong
Then you will be a witnes sto the rumble going on
You find it hard to tell the truth from the jive
They've got a right to say it wrong  if freedom's to survive

For Ladies Only - Steppenwolf

I listened and I heard music in a word
And words when you played your guitar
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering
And a child flew past me riding on a star

My friends all tell me go to him
Run to him, say sweey lovely things to him
And tell him, he's the one
Deep in my heart i know it
But it's so hard to show it
'Cause it's

American Girl - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. When I first heard this song, i thought the Byrds were making a comeback.
By the way Rhino et al, give Traveye a little help on his "Known for vs. Better Song Thread. The idea is to name a group, the song that they are most known for, and then name a song you think was better. Granted, that's a tough one with the likes of the Rolling Stones or Beatles, cause they're known for so many songs. But check it out.

Am I hard enough
Am I rough enough

BEAST OF BURDEN - THE ROLLING STONES  Far from my favorite STONES songs but some of the best guitar interplay between Ron Wood and KEEF you'll ever hear. They seamlessly trade of lead and rhythm parts and play off each oher wonderfully. The only way to tell who is playing which part is KEEF's guitar is tuned to his usual 5 string open G tuning and has a fatter sound. Also he is playing a telecaster which has a little more twang to it than the Les Paul tha WOOODIE preferred at the time. The sound difference is subtle but distinguishable if you listen for it.

NEXT LYRICS: This song has been recorded by several artists but I am looking for a 1971 version where it was the title track from an album that reached #83 in the US. One side of the album was produced by Elton John and the other side by Rod Stewart, both of whom he helped get started when they were mere teenagers in England where he was a much bigger star.

When You Climb To The Top Of The Mountain
Look Out Over The Sea
Think About The Places Perhaps, Where A Young Man Could Be
Then You Jump Back Down To The Rooftops
Look Out Over The Town
Think About All Of The Strange Things Circulating Round

PEACEFUL, EASY FEELING - THE Eagles   I sooooooo almost used this song yesterday.   One of my favorite lines is the opening tline of the song that CLEAN chose to use, a great analogy IMHO.

NEXT LYRICS: This should definitely qualify as an AM GOLD song although I think we had transitioned to FM mostly by the time this song was released

We've had this easy/hard/soft theme for over a month now so I propose a theme change here.
Playing off of trav's song, how about song titles or lyrics or bandnames that have anything to do with FIGHTING, HITTING, PUNCHING, ETC?

First up:

You come on with your come-ons, you don't fight fair
That's O.K., see if I care!
Knock me down, it's all in vain
I'll get right back on my feet again!
