Unknown Soldier - The Doors. Hey Purp, I saw the Doors at Madison Square Garden in January 1969, right when Touch Me was released. The concert opened with Touch Me, featuring a full orchestra. It's a perfect opener because of the instrumental intro, giving Jim a a minute or so to go "Come on Come on and Touch me"

clean, you're very lucky, that was a rare Doors concert to see. I believe that was also one of the few times they played The Soft Parade.  If it was the concert of Friday, Jan. 24, 1969 also with the Staple Singers opening, I have a black and white poster bill of the show, with Morrison holding a lit sparkler.  But man, that must have been a great show!

Wow Purp, yes the Staples Singers were the opener. Its amazing you tracked that down. The thing about the Staples set was that the crowd was fairly quiet, but some applause could be heard when they started with "pulled into Nazareth." I had not been aware of The Band at that time, but I was shortly after.
Later that year, I saw Janis Joplin at MSG with her full title boogie band. It had the original Snooky - sax player Snooky Flowers. Anyway, the high moment of that concert was when Janis said she wanted to bring a friend from Texas 'who also had a lot of s--t kicked on him' and out came Johnny Winter and the crowd went nuts. They jammed, with Johnny's guitar and Janis's voice doing a call and response style.

Down By the River - Neil Young. We've been on this "crime wave" for a while. It may be time to change themes, but I'm trying to figure one we haven't done before.

clean, since you mentioned "wave", how about a theme change to ocean, sea, and beach songs etc., even if it's been done before.

I like Cobra's idea of going to the sea and I will start with this one:
