Ironically I was born in Champaign then moved just across the state line when I was about 5 years old. Lived there for about 25 years then moved to Danville to be closer to my job. Always been a Hoosier fan.
I went to High School my last 2 years in northern Indiana, Played basketball against Scott Skyles and Dan Docich, Played football against Rod Woodson. I don't know if I like IU basketball as much since they canned Knight.Yeah I'm not real happy with our coach now either. Knight may have been an a** but we never had to worry about probation for infractions.
Still remember the great run Skiles and Plymouth had in the state tourney.
I served in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman (medic) during Operation Desert Storm. HM1 NAVSPECWARGRUTWO.
And we say HooYah! The only easy day was yesterday.
As I've said on previous threads, I propose a five star fest for all Bama faithful in celebration of our #1 ranked recruiting class!! 5's to all!!!!!
BAMABIGTYME
Sounds like a plan. I sadly missed last Aday game but, I had a pretty good excuse. I got married. So what better way to spend my 1st ann. then go to our Alma Mater and celebrate. Hopefully Saban will keep it around the same time. And one more thing thanks to all service men and women for all you guys do. You have 100% support from this tidefan. I 'll be at the walk of Champions with my bells on also. RTR.
My pop started 3 years at corner and safety for Coach Bryant, and I was born singing "Yea Alabama". I love connecting with other Tide fans. Anyone in Los Angeles?
I recently went to my cousins wedding in Birmingham, and my Dad and I bailed on the reception after a few beers...he took me over to Legion Field to show me where he started his first game against Tennessee. There was a crew cleaning up the stadium and the let us walk out on the field. Just standing on that field and sharing that connection with my father was one of the best moments of my life. Sorry to get sentimental, but I just love the Tide.
Speaking of Tennessee, I was at the game this year, and, man that was a great feeling. Losing 6 in a row to Auburn hurts, but witnessing that beatdown of Tennessee live was just awesome.
What do you guys think about the recruiting class? Who are gonna be the stars? My prediction of stars and busts:
Stars:
Julio Jones
Dont'a Hightower
Kerry Murphy
Jerrell Harris
Glenn Harbin
Star Jackson
Melvin Ray
Busts:
Tyler Love
Mark Barron
B.J. Scott
Chris Jackson
Robby Green
Just a feeling.
I think Barron will be anything but a bust. He's too good of a playmaker not to be. He'll be our starting SS come fall. Scott is way too talented of an athlete to be a bust. Jackson will be an unstoppable force at the slot wide receiver position with his quickness, good hands, the outside deep threats we have now, and smarts (he committed to GaTech originally). Speaking of GaTech, the starting TE who is 6-6 250 with a basketball background (Antonio Gates Anyone?) is transferring to Bama.
Thanks for getting the party started Sky!
Sell out the '08 A-Day game!
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's hope they all blow up!
Yeah but you know once they realize we are being content talking to our respectable peers over here trying to mind our own business, they'll flock over here to try and stir the $hit.
RTR
LOVE THAT BAMA GOT #1 RECRUITING CLASS.CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT SEASON.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Stop trying to figure out who will propel us to the next level. It's already started. Within two years, Bama will be among the nations best! Now.....The question is NOT who it is going to be; it's better asked, into who's hands are we going to get the ball?
Saban and staff will recruit the same type class year-after-year. I reasonably see a National Championship in 2010 or earlier and every 2 years after that if Saban stays. Don't worry about it! As many have claimed in the past, it's for real this time; BAMA IS BACK!
P.S. Why would Saban go anyplace? The only way he can move up is to go back to the NFL. To go to another college team, he would only be moving sideways...AND.... There are only a mouthful of teams that can even compare with Alabama. We all know who they are.
