I agree with you perspective on the Nationals...starting pitching will go a long way towards determining how much succes they have the rest of the season.  Your sentiments regarding the Redskins seem to be very similar to the rather large number of fans I know who have given me their opinion regarding this past offseason...reason for optimism, but not yet ready to compete for a Championship

As for the Broncos getting Peyton Manning I was huge fan of the move, but honestly didn't think it would happen until the last day or two when it became obvious that he wasn't going to Tennessee or Miami.  I really like that this move will either be boom or complete bust (if he isn't healthy which I highly doubt) because their is nothing worse than floundering around .500 every year with no real good chance of landing that franchise QB every team that has won the Super Bowl in the last decade has had leading the way.  I expect that Denver will compete primarily with the Chiefs for division dominance and call me crazy, but I think they have an excellent chance of making the Super Bowl if key personnel can stay healthy (admittedly a huge if)...regardless I couldn't be more excited for the 2012-2013 NFL Season and am just using fantasy baseball to get me through the dog days of summer.

I think this was a no lose proposition for John Elway.  If Peyton Manning is not healthy, which by all accounts he is, then Elway goes after a franchise QB in the draft but if the Bronocs can win with Tim Tebow, they should be able to win with Manning.  I just really thought Manning was going to the Houston Texans where he would hand the ball to Arian Foster and throw the ball to Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels.  Sounds like a pretty good situation to me.  Could Drew Brees leave the New Orleans Saints for the Texans?

Once Peyton Manning finally agreed to come to Denver, I couldn't agree more.  Who would have ever imagined a bloodless coup d etat removing the most controversial QB in NFL history after his stunning performance in the Broncos Wild Card victory vs the Steelers...certainly not I or anyone else with more than 2 marbles rolling around in their head.

I think had the Texans not had a pretty effective and relatively young Matt Schaub locked up, they probably would have made a harder push for Manning, but now that some of the details have emerged as to why he chose Denver, I'm not sure any other team had much of a chance landing him.  This whole situation just reminds me so much of when Joe Montana was pushed out of San Francisco and ended up having a few very good years with the Chiefs...just hope Mnning can lead us to a Super Bowl victory...would be a truly great story complete with Hollywood ending.

The reality of the situation is that Posey is  is currently only 39 pts up on the season vs Doumit. The 28-21-14-7 differentials are 18.5-14-8-10. These differentials are diminished considering Doumit's recent stint on the DL.  Doumit gets more at bats and will miss less starts given that he will DH from time to time.

Bautista is 70pts ahead of Rasmus for the season with one less at bat. The 28-21-14-7 differentials are 2.5-21-17.5-(-3).

Let's stop pretending my improving your one spot is the same as you improving mine. I can get waiver wire help at catcher that would lessen the differential gap vs Posey. Can you say the same for Outfielder X or 3rd baseman X vs Bautista?

If you ever want to acquire Bautista, lose Posey, and gain insurance for your MASH unit of SPs, then you will make up the improvement gap.

If you look at my proposed way for you to make the gap up, you'll see that the offered short stop has performed at nearly the same rate as yours over the last month. The YTD is inflated due to a benching situation that will not reoccur.

Sup GB10. I'm hoping my batters help close the gap between myself and Bobs 2 Start Queefers. I need to get....ahead in the count!! And the Thunder are done if they don't get it done here shortly. We'll see. Either way, I'll be tuning and on in the chat here in a few.

Incidentally I still have Chris Sale, Garret Richards, Matt Harrison, James McDonald, and Jose Quintana. I can start three of those guys in my RP slot if I wanted. To say I could part with a SP is overstating the obvious

and I don't know if any of you nitwits stopped to consider which bat protects Rasmus in the lineup

The Cub that you refer two is a top three shortstop, Rasmus hits ahead of Bautista. With the pitching I've added in the last two weeks, you couldn't beat my team with or without that trade. You just have a hardon**** as it pertains to screwing with Fred. In the future, do it on your own time and leave me the uck fout of it.

Good TGIF morning GB10, now there can be no more talk about the King With No Ring

I only watched part of the first half of the NBA Finals clinching victory by the Heat vs the Thunder last night...once the Miami role players were making shots, I had no doubt what the final outcome would be.  I think their loss to the Mavericks last year in the Finals showed them in a very personal way how difficult winning a Championship truly is and the sacrifice and team first focus that is required to succeed at the highest level.  I don't know how many people will feel the same way today that I do, but I think LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh along with the rest of the Heat team very much deserved this title and I for one am glad they reaped the reward of all of their hard work.  Now the Thunder team is forced to deal with the exact same frustration that Miami dealt with last year...we'll see how they respond.

Not watching any of the second half of the NBA Finals allowed me to focus on finalizing a deal with Frank that would net me Jose Bautista.  It certainly wasn't easy and I believe I gave up a significant amount of value to do it, but if I didn't think the deal improved my team I certainly wouldn't have pulled the trigger.

I get Jose Bautista (3B/OF), Ryan Vogelsong (SP), and Dee Gordon (SS)
Frank gets Starlin Castro (SS), Colby Rasmus (OF), and Buster Posey (C)

My primary focus was on acquiring a Top 20 batter without parting with one of my own...Joey Votto, Melky Cabrera, Hunter Pence, and Robinson Cano.  I expected to have to part with one of my very good SPs, but instead will sacrifice considerably my consistency at SS...only time will tell if I made the right decision, but I feel really good about it right now.

seriously... if their are not 8 objections to this BS I am quiting the league

Why must you feel the need to micro manage how owners build their respective teams Dave?  There is certainly more than one way to win a title and just because you don't agree with Frank's method, doesn't mean that you should prevent him from doing what he feels is best.  We like most of the league are both very experienced in playing fantasy baseball and are giving our very best to manage our team to the playoffs and any insuation that this trade somehow offsets the balance of the league is just assinine.

I'm not tripping on you guys.  I love the competitive nature of our league.

Thanks Marty...despite the quick two veto votes, it nice to know that not everyone feels the same way Dave does.

What it ultimately comes down to Frank is that Dave trusts that I construct my team to win a Championship much better than you do because I can guarandamntee you that if in his warped mind it was you fleecing me via this trade, he wouldn't have given it a first thought let alone a second. Undecided

That being said, I have won 3 straight GB10 Baseball Championships so maybe he has a point...lol Foot in mouth

Good thing you posted this BEFORE Bryce Harper got this phrase trademarked...I'm sure it will cost a pretty penny in the not to distant future to use it in any public forum.  Then again there are so few regulars around here anymore, it likely would go unnoticed...hell even now that school is out, the trolls don't even stop in for a visit...lol

I'm done for the week so everybody enjoy your weekend...not sure what I'll do to pass the time now that my wheeling and dealing is complete (at least for the time being), but other than mowing the lawn, I hope to keep cool and spend plenty of time relaxing...WHO"S WITH ME????
