Well....one round today then rounds 2&3 Friday and 4-7 Sat. I think it's kind of dumb but the NFL needs the money so let them soak it up for all its' worth.........

Couple things from yesterday Pirates' doubleheader. After seeing Cuddyer up close for two games yesterday, I'm beyond at peace with trading him. Fred will have him on the waiver wire within a month.  Jose Tabata is a bum. Can't hit. Can't run with intelligence. Can't throw as well as advertised. Pedro Alvarez. Write it down. He's not the bust we all thought he was. He's even hitting lefties now.

The minute Jones replaces Tabata in the outfield is the moment this team can play above .500 for years to come.

Don't let ESPN tell you how good James McDonald was yesterday. He hit two batters, walked the picher and had a strike to ball ratio barely over 1:1. It was the worst one hit through 6.1 ever.

Chris Resop was the credited loser of game one, which is funny since his last name is poser spelled backwards.

Good Thursday Morning GB10, must be coming down with a cold because I'm exhausted and just not feeling good

I tried to watch the Game 7 matchup between the Bruins and Capitals, but it was blacked out on the channel that was carrying the game and I couldn't find a local broadcast...oh well.  The afternoon games yesterday helped pass the day, but by the time I got home from my capital campaign committee meeting around 8:30, it was all I could do to put the girls to bed and take out the garbage.  Then I wake up this morning and feel as though my body has been hit by a bus...Dave must have been pissed about the trade between Frank and I going through.

The start by Brandon Beachy vs the Dodgers was all right (15 points), but he was set up to take the loss until Javy Guerra came in the 9th inning with a one run lead and proceeded to give up 3 earned runs along with taking a line drive by Brian McCann off the face.  After the blown save and consecutive losses the last two nights, I had no choice but to go out to the waiver wire and add the best available RP...Rafael Betancourt with 6 saves isn't a bad option.

Though I now trail Tony by 4 points thanks to a combined 50 points from Jordan Zimmerman and Felix Hernandez, at least Shaun Marcum only put up a paltry 2.5 points.  I still have a 1 SP advantage, but with Guerra likely not to pitch for at least a day or two and Josh Willingham home with his family for the birth of his third child, I'm beginning to wonder if I have enough bullets left in the gun to finish off Tony...can't afford any more negative point performances that's for damn sure.

Looking forward to enjoying the 2012 NFL Draft tonight, but I had to cancel my flight to Denver in lieu of this nasty head cold.

From the point of view of an exacerbation of the cancer or from the angle of cause and effect?  If your palms aren't hairy, I don't think you have to tell him vis-a-vis the porn causing the cancer.  Depending on how much muscle is excised, heavy use of the arm may not be the ideal way to go for awhile.  Cool

On a serious note, sorry to hear about the cancer, Dave.  Easy for me to say, but if you've got to get a cancer, basal cell carcinoma, generally speaking, isn't a bad one to get.  Regarding insurance, I'm going to guess you're going to be taboo for a period of 5-7 years and then those nasty underwriters will make it a much more costly proposition on at least two fronts-- being older and the preexisting condition of cancer.

At least you'll be able to enjoy the porn in the interim.

if you love somebody, don't procrastinate on getting life insurance, before you get the call from the Dr, like I did today, it can make a difference between what you pay and wether or not you will even be eligible

Not only has my entire family always had medical insurance through our respective employers, but my wife and I also have quite substantial life insurance policies on each other since be both are major contibutors to our total family income.

I should be ok.. might have a nice size hole in my fore arm, but my ability to buy insurance is gone for now and maybe forever..

Glad to hear you should be fine, but I'm still wishing you the best of luck going forward...even if it does mean that my next trade will likely have another unecessary veto vote against it.Foot in mouth  You are absolutely right about getting life insurance while you are young, but it is almost impossible to convince anyone under the age of 35 that it's the wise move to make.  Reminds me of the saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"

my fantasy baseball team sux.  help!

Well since you asked and I actually enjoy this kind of thing, here's what I see....

C Joe Mauer - he's a keeper right now, but could be valuable trade bait if you target elite players from anyone but Val's roster...she refuses to trade for a Catcher

1B Kendry Morales - certainly not an elite option, but didn't think he would be this bad...you are in major need of an upgrade

2B Dustin Ackley - average player at a position with plenty of depth, but there are certainly some other viable options on the waiver wire to consider

3B David Freese - underrated player that depending on where you got him in the draft is likely one of the best values on your roster

SS Hanley Ramirez - an elite option at a position without much depth...likely your best infield position player

OF Ryan Braun - ditto the above comment except replace outfiled for infield

OF Desmond Jennings - he might not be the flashiest player on your roster, but like Freese is likely a great value depending on where you got him in the draft

OF Ben Zobrist - I'd like him a whole lot more if you had him playing 2B instead of OF

U Adam Jones/Vernon Wells - Again nothing to love here, but I prefer Jones much more over Wells

SP Adam Wainwright - his slow start must be just killing you especially given how well the Cardinals are playing

SP Matt Cain - right now your best SP...make sure you keep him

SP Gio Gonzalez - don't know much about the Nationals, but he is probably your best "sell high" candidate

SP Derek Holland - again don't know much about him, but the Rangers offense will certainly get him his share of wins regardless of whether or not he pitches well enough to deserve them

SP Mark Buehrle, Ubaldo Jimenez, Carlos Zambrano - these guys are all likely drop/add candidates

RP Jason Motte, Jose Valverde, Aroldis Chapman - not sure how you decide which of the two to start every week, but I like having 3 RP options if I don't have an absolute must start guy on my roster.

So in short, you are likely using a very similar strategy to Frank (rotate in SPs like kids playing musical chairs), but unfortunately your hitters aren't elite enough to cover the occassional blow up that you get using this tactic.

My recomendation would be drop the dead weight and scoop some hot players and hope they can continue playing well until some of your SPs come around and look to possibly shop Mauer and/or Ramirez to upgrade your 1B and SP positions

Your good Freddy..  your good.

I have given up the most points in the league.  Lost last week 390-400.

Morales has killed me.  And i Need another good OF.  Anyone need an RP for a good OF?

Here's to hope of the Rams getting:

Justin Blackmon, WR  okla St.
Alshon Jeffrey, WR  S. carolina
Lamar Miller, RB Miami

drop Chapman and pick-up a OF  Chapman is not going to close as long as Dusty Baker is alive (I have Don Davido working on that)

so he is a waste of a roster spot on CBS... still worthwhile in ESPN although I dropped him but with only 3 roster spots in that league, he was a luxury I could not afford.

The implied sentiment here is that my hitters kick @$$. Thanks to Fred for stating the obvious.
