NHL Rumors: James van Riemsdyk's name keeps pop...

June 22, 2012 2:15 pm

why would he be okay becoming a blue jacket? guess he doesn't care about being on a playoff contender? seems kinda odd that he would be ok with that.
Well, it's not like he'd be taking more money there at the cost of playing for a contender. I just see it as someone who would make the best of a not-so-great situation and make the best of it by wanting to be a player who turns that franchise around.

Won't happen anyway. The Flyers already made a trade with Columbus, so you'd think if the Flyers were really in on Nash, Bob would have been part of a package with JVR instead of single trade. I could be wrong, though.

Latest word is that JvR is being traded for Brown, Yandle, Suter, Weber, Yakupov, Nash all three Staal brothers and Toe Blake.

------

And if we can't get Toe Blake, gotta hold out for at least one of the Hanson brothers.

yeah right. Kids, don't smoke outta aluminum foil.

Why not? I did when I was in a pinch and it worked fine! Oh wait...Maybe thats why I grew a 3rd nipple and an eye in the middle of my forehead? haha

On a serious note... Jvr is one of those players that unfortunetly gonna get hurt drying off in the shower. He was the 2nd overall pick when we got screwed outta the #1 that year. He has so much potential. We saw a clipse of it 2 years ago in the playoffs. Injuries have stunted his growth for sure. I just afraid if we trade him away hes gonna turn into Patrick Sharp! I dont understand why they are wanting a offensive player when we need a defenseman BAD. Would love to get Yandle for sure but I'm not giving up any young players. So thats probably not gonna happen! Go Flyers!

well, not that i like the trade...But the last time the flyboys had bothers on the team they went to the Cup twice...and when one (or more) was a d-man..the won the Cup twice, so if they win the Cup at least once in the next five years, THEN I will say it's a good trade haha

First time in NHL history where one brother scored on another (Paul scored on Tiny on December 21, 1937). Faced each other in the 1929 Stanley Cup Finals, where Tiny’s Boston Bruins beat Paul’s New York Rangers.

Reg joined the Black Hawks midway through the 1942–43 season, and the trio made history on January 1, 1943, when they became the first all-brother line the NHL had seen. Two nights later, Max and Doug assisted on Reg's first, and only, NHL goal. It was the only time in league history that a trio of family members recorded the goal and assists on a scoring play. While Max and Doug were established NHL Stars, Reg played only 11 games in his NHL career.

Inspired the infamous Hanson Brothers of the movie Slap Shot. Steve played one of the brothers, but Jack was unable to act in the film because of the WHA playoffs.

On March 20 1924, in the second game of a best of three semi-final.Frank Boucher scored a eloquent goal for his elimination facing team.Unfortunatley big brother Billy answered with two of his own,and ended the series. Thus making Boucher the name of all the goal scorers that night for both teams.Amazingly, they had Another brother Bob who also played in that game. ...(man I am still trying to get that games boxscore haha)

Ed and Mud Bruneteau, brothers who played for the Wings....Mud?!

Yeah Mud ,the player as a two week old rookie scored the game winning goal in the playoffs in the SIXTH OT haha
( Modere "Mud"Bruneteau is famous for ending the longest game in NHL playoff history. He had been called up to the Red Wings just two weeks earlier and was still trying adjust to the pace of the NHL when he was thrown into his first playoff series. On March 24, 1936 against the Montreal Maroons, Mud scored the winning goal at 16:30 of the sixth overtime 116:30 of total overtime to win the game for Detroit 1–0.)

A tradition in virtually every arena in which professional hockey is played is for the media to select "Three Stars" at the end of each game.In April of 1979 the Hersey Bears defeated the Binghamton Dusters at the Broome County Arena. The "Three Stars" voted that night by the media were well deserving that honour.the Bears Tony Mcegney and Bill Riley (each with a goal an assist) and Binghamtons Mike Mason (two goals). Thus becoming the first time all "Three Stars" were "brothers".
