Just look at the rotations.
Starting Lineup:
Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo - We all know the starters know how to win games. Rondo will be a legitimate MVP candidate in 12/13. Bass will take another step. Pierce and Allen have all Summer to heal. Garnett has a fresh contract and he doesn't take nights off.
Backups:
Greg Stiemsma, Jared Sullinger, Jeff Green, Avery Bradley - Stiemsma has a Summer to learn the system a bit more. He's a primetime defender. Sullinger will challenge Bass for minutes with his already polished offsensive skills. He and Bass will make one helluva workhorse 1-2 punch at power forward. Jeff Green will be able to come in and give Paul Pierce QUALITY rest. I predict he'll be a possible 6th Man candidate. Avery Bradley will be able to get starter's minutes off the bench. He'll get around 30 minutes a game. Rondo will get about 38. Ray Allen will get the other 28. They are going to make a great 3 man backcourt next season.
Practice Players:
Fab Melo, JaJuan Johnson, Kris Joseph, Etwan Moore - Don't be surprised if Fab gets tick in Doc's system. If he can defend the paint and run the floor he'll give Stiemsma all the competition he can handle for backup minutes. I suspect Etwan will end up getting early season minutes while Bradley continues to heal. Johnson and Joseph are good insurance at the forward spots. AND we'll probably end up with another Keyon Dooling type.
This is all if we don't end up getting OJ Mayo or Jason Terry.
Next season the Celtics will compete for another championship. The locker room has NO issues. Doc Rivers has a TOP NOTCH system. I predict another big year for the Celtics. Look how young we've gotten. We've got a perfect balance of veterans and youngsters on this squad. Everybody will know their role and the efficiencies we'll get from synergy will push us over the top. WATCH. Don't doubt C-Rock!
One more thing, getting Jeff Green back allows us to go small or BIG. He can play either forward position. Doc Rivers will have the luxury of moving Paul Pierce over to the shooting guard position at times so he can take advantage of smaller players and get us easy baskets and trips to the line. Green stretches defenses. Its going to be dangerous for teams next year.
Word.
