There is absolutely no reason for IU to start off like they have at Michigan. It's too far in the year and they have played on the road. The players know what to do and can't do it, but there must be something with the coaching also. To play this bad the bench may as well play and get experience. Players that are messing up need to sit and think about it instead of staying in the game. I'll always be an IU fan but seeing them fall apart year after year is getting old. Not saying fire Crean, just thinking some serious adjustments need to be made.
Its just SO frustrating to see the season in jeopardy after such an incredible start. IU needs a sweep of their home games and hopefully steal one or two on the road. Good thing this one only counts as one loss!
they win the rest of theregames at home there in the tourney, the get to 20 wins they are more than likely in the tourney, the early season resume is to good and would beat out most other 20-21 win teams,
NO ONE in the big ten is winning on the Road, not MSU not OSU, not Michigan, theres only 2 teams with over 5 hundred road records, really IU is not an anomly, just got to take care of business at home and were fine tourney wise, as seen in the recent cbs projected brack IU is stilll a 5 seed that came out today...The team is still exceeding most preseason expectations though eh...
Gotta think if IU wins only their home games it's a 6 seed at best. I'm leaning toward a 7 seed cause I don't think they will improve at this point. Hate to say it.....but come on with the play. Loss at Purdue will put them unranked and unless they change their ways, season will end in the NIT. I am not forgetting that very few people had them accomplishing what they have this year.
It would be nice to steal one tonight. They gotta have a win or two away from home. We might still be a year away from an NCAA tournament contender ... unless they can find some of that early season magic again!
Always good to get a win against the Boilers, and I think that was the toughest I've seen them play in many games though I will say, except for that bad stretch against Michigan in the first half this week, they look over the past few games more like the December group than they have in a month. More PT for Elston if he keeps playing within his ability is a good thing, Abel stepped up tonight, and good for him, along with better rebounding, ball control (VJ3 not contributing toi that tonight, woo hoo!) and more physical play lets me believe they may be back on track.
I really hope this gets their confidence back to stay, Road wins are tough, and against your rival maybe even tougher. This is not a signature road win, but maybe a key one to this team's future.
You guys honestly worried if they don't make the tourney? 3 wins against #1, #2 and whatever U of M was at that point, plus only 6 games AND strength of schedule gets our Hoosiers in like 5-7 weeks ago. The committee will love having IU in. Don't be so hard on this team guys, especially with what we have currently and next year. IU legititemetly could be a sweet 16 team this year, no joke, and it's not because I'm a fan... they are that poised and ready for the challenge.
How mature is Zeller already? Leonard tried so hard to get in his head but ended up screwing with his own head. Team looked sharp from the start and Illinois actually played really well offensively for most of the game. Seems like form is returning,.....
