Knicks tried to get Camby in Melo deal

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- One of the notable holes in the Knicks' roster that will persist after the Carmelo Anthony trade is a capable, defensive-minded center. The Knicks tried to fill that hole with efforts to draw Portland into the deal as the fourth team and bring Marcus Camby back to New York, two people with knowledge of the talks told CBSSports.com.

It wasn't clear what pieces the Knicks would've sent to the Trail Blazers in such a scenario, but both sources said Tuesday afternoon that New York's efforts to get Camby failed. The three-team, 13-player Anthony trade went through Tuesday night with only one minor addition -- Kosta Koufos going from Minnesota to Denver for a second-round pick.

The Blazers are actively shopping Camby, Joel Przybilla and Andre Miller and are very likely to make at least one deal before Thursday's trade deadline. Given the uncertain futures of Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, Portland general manager Rich Cho is trying to flip the expiring contract of Przybilla and the essentially expiring deal of Miller (whose contract is fully non-guaranteed next season) for draft picks and younger players.

The Nets were weighing a Miller-for-Devin Harris swap Tuesday night but also proposed sending Harris back to Dallas for Caron Butler's expiring contract, Dominique Jones and a first-round pick. Sources said Dallas was trying to get that deal done with Butler alone.

I can't see how you can say Wade is the only true player when Bron is one of the top 3 players in the NBA overall. I also think once you get the Heat into a 7 game series it is going to be tough to knock them around for too long.

That Heat are a weak team.
Lakers have Gasol, Bynum, Artest, Fisher, and Phil Jackson.
Heat have Wade and Bron....Bosh wont do too much in playoffs unless he magically gains 50 pounds and grows a pair.

you can argue that heat have not been healthy all season...so what happens when good defense makes them one dimensional???
WADE is the only true player on that team...good luck

except for the bulls...the deepest team next to the Celts.
are we kidding about the HEAT!? in a seven game series?! have some of you EVER watched playoff basketball?! How are the heat going to score in the paint?! How are the magic going to play defense with Richardson, nelson, and turk starting?! Celts and Bulls have the best TEAMS....read that word "TEAM"
Magic, Heat, and Knicks are all fakes.  Magic is screwed and won't win a championship ever.  Heat need to get deeper.  and Knicks are also screwed because they now have two max players and NOBODY ELSE...Billups is getting older and losing steps every year kids.
BULLS vs CELTS eastern conference finals WHILE BRON walks away without shaking anyones hands cuz hes a lil baby

The Magic 1st class citizens? Yeah right. defense? Didn't Lebron just torch them for 51 pts. The Celts are in a class by themselves because of their experience. The Heat will be in the hunt this year for the eastern conference title and none of the other teams you mentioned except for the celts can knock off the Heat.

The Knicks don't need a third max guy. All they need is someone who will make them play defense. I like the roster as it is but it won't get them to the finals. If they can get another big man who is a defensive presence and good rebounder they will be in the hunt 2011, but they don't have the time together to match powerhouses miami, and boston

This is the most logical post of all. Great NY has another scorer & will be entertaining to watch in regular season. But who plays d? & more importantly who is going to rebound on this team??? Turiaf is NOT a starting caliber center. Playoffs are about size & defense we have neither so this looks like a first round exit team...we are becoming the Phoenix Suns east.
