'Sheed receptive to Celts, but will shop

Rasheed Wallace was receptive to the Celtics' All-Star recruiting pitch, but will be listening to other teams before deciding his future, a person with knowledge of the discussions told

The pitch Thursday in Detroit, attended by Celtics players, coach Doc Rivers, president Danny Ainge, and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, impressed Wallace and was termed "very good meeting." Contract parameters were discussed -- it is believed Wallace would get the mid-level for 2-3 years -- but Wallace wants to hear other offers. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cavaliers have yet to contact Wallace, indicating their lack of interest. San Antonio has expressed interest, and the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday that the Magic have contacted Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland.

Alright Laker fan calm down. Powe did his thing against the Lakers in the finals if you remember losing to us in 2008. Eddie House doesnt need to guard people, that's why he comes in off the bench, too shoot 3's. I'm not so sure about the foul trouble and Big baby isn't worth a dime, your right.  It's funny how quickly you forget 2008 just because you won this passed season.

That's what you said last year! But #18 never came. SmileInstead, Phil Jackson got #10. Red who?

The Celtics are old and getting older. Eat your hearts out Boston losers!

Celtic's Demiss!!!!

This would be great for the rest of the Teams in the East. All those OLD guys running around trying to make it happen. It will be a long time before they ever see another Championship. Cleveland,Orlando,Atlanta..etc. must be sitting there clicking their heels, wiating for the Celtic's to sign him. Looks like number 5 for "The Black Mamba "....It only gets easier!  -TrinityRules

Typical Laker fan.  WTH is 'demiss??!!'

Too stupid to use spellcheck.  Too stupid to use proper punctuation.  Too stupid to use simple HTML.

What do you call him, now?  The black what?  Guy?

Shouldn't you be off busy setting fires or looting convenience stores, or something?

It's not a trade but a free agent signing.  Hard to get younger players to develop when you don't have draft picks.  This pick up gives the C's a much deeper bench.

This comming from a fan of a team who just won a championship and decided to add Ron Artest to the mix.  Pot meet kettle!
What are you talking about?  How are the Celtics going to have a hard time comming together.  They already have come together and they went through the playoffs with one servicable big man.
The Celtics are becomming the New York Yankees.  You do understand that there is a salary cap in the nba and comparing salaries between your lakers and the celtics, the lakers team was $76,760,484 the celtics were $73,774.018.  Which team are the Yankees of the NBA?
My favorite part of you post was that you love Sheed and want him to go to a team that "really" needs him.  So let me get this straight you don't want him to go to a team with a chance to win right now but go to a team that may be building.  What sense does that make for a guy whose career is comming to an end.
I personally don't like him and don't want him in Boston the same way i wouldn't want Artest on my team

What I like is that it is not a trade. It is a free agent signing.

I would hate this move if the Boston Celtics traded someone to get Wallace.

Ray Allen's contract expires next season and the Celtics will not re-sign him. That freed-up cap space will go towards a younger player.

If the Celts would have one more championship run in them if they could get Wallace. Time showed it face last year when KG went down and their playoff run was cut short more by the lack of fresh legs than the Orlando Magic. I think with the experience gained by Rajon Rondo, Big Baby, and Perkins during this last playoff run will pay huge divedends this next year. If Celtics can get through the regular next year with main cogs still intact and Wallace on their team I believe they are the best team in the east.  The obvious question with team will be health, but if they can get a deeper rotation going in the regular season to limit the 4 all stars (Allen, Truth, KG, Sheed) they will be most likely playing the lakers in finals ( not the cavs or magic).
